Mission: To provide the working poor, who are willing, an opportunity to achieve and sustain a quality of life for their children, and the tools needed for core life skills, healthcare, education, job advancement and financial literacy.

In 1995 the need for child care and support services was identified as the first Habitat for Humanity Houses were built in South Ranch II, a residential community of 200 houses built by neighbors helping neighbors. The neighborhood is diverse representing the larger community in South Mountain Village with 78% Latino, 15% African American, 6% Caucasian, and 1% Native American/Asian. In 1999 the Stardust House was built and received the 501(c) 3 nonprofit status hiring Francisca Montoya as the Executive Director.

Stardust House consists of two adjoining houses surrounded by other Habitat for Humanity homes. Our programs educate, mentor, and support families toward self-sufficiency. We partner with many agencies and nonprofits including the City of Phoenix with Head Start and After School Care to mentoring programs, college preparation opportunities, classes in creative art/music, English as a Second Language, and financial literacy.
• 90% of South Ranch II High School Seniors graduated between 2000 and 2003 as compared to the surrounding neighborhood high school where 49% graduated.
• 81% of South Ranch II High School Seniors attended college between 2000-2003 as compared with 40% from the local high school.
• Stardust House tests out many pilot projects including parent education, early start to college, and support of non-licensed child care providers.
• A neighborhood Advisory Council is leading the Stardust House into the next phase of programming.

Please check out our wide range of partners. We depend upon their support and our combined mutual vision which provides opportunities and resources for the families.
