Dept.
The program is licensed to provide educational programming for 17
preschool children ages 3-4 years. This program leads the city with
a highly active parent volunteer council.
Barrett Honors College
Partner: Arizona State University-BHC
Serve as a community service pilot project model. The honors students
provide tutoring, teach Chess, lead garden projects, and coordinate
field trips and activities at the university.
Early Start to College:
Partner: Hispanic Border Leadership Institute-ASU
This project provides outreach to first generation Latino eighth
and ninth grade students to Expose them to learning and planning
for college. The program has a strong parent component.
ACE (Achieving a College Education)
Partner: South Mountain Community
College
South Ranch students attend college during the summer and on Saturdays
in their junior and Senior years and earn up to 24 college credit
hours upon high school graduation. Currently 16 Students have been
accepted in the program.
South Ranch Scholarship:
Partner: Maricopa Community College Foundation
A scholarship of $ 1,800 to South Ranch high school graduates to
transition into college. Recipients submit a 3-page essay, take
financial fitness classes, and volunteer 50 hours of
community service. Upon completion of 36 transferable college credit
hours, students are Provided with $800 towards the purchase of a
lap top computer.
ESL
Partner: Friendly House Inc.
Two English as a Second Language classes are offered to homeowners
interested in learning English to better their skills, job advancement,
and for personal growth. Classes in Level 1 and III are offered.
KidsCare
Partner: Health Links, Inc.
A KidsCare door-to-door campaign conducted twice a year in spring
and fall to register children Into KidsCare, a state health insurance
program designed specifically to meet the needs of low to moderate
income working poor parents whose children are uninsured
